FAQs FAQs What thickness should I select for my backsplash? With all the stainless steel backsplashes we’ve sold, 22GA (.030″) is the most popular thickness. However; what thickness you chose is mostly based of personal preference. We offer custom cut-to-size backsplashes in 16GA, 18GA, 20GA, and 22GA. What sort of edge finish should I go with? Hemmed or Sheared? Having a hemmed edge will eliminate the sharp corners, making the backsplash much easier to clean and handle when installing. Have a sheared edge will leave the backspalsh with sharp corners, making the backsplash not as safe to clean, and a little more of a hassle to install. The finish of the edge is really a personal preference. We’ve sold multiple backsplashes with a hemmed edge and also a sheared edge with great feedback on both finishes. Due to the labor involved to make a hemmed edge backsplash the cost is significantly higher. So, if you are on a budget the sheared edge is for you. Do you have a recommendation for an adhesive to use? They’re multiple products on the market that will work such as Liquid Nails, 2-Minute Epoxy, Acrylic Adhesive and much more. The material can also be screwed to the wall.

Stainless steel tile is available from several online sources. Once you find a tile size and style you like, decide on an installation pattern. You can combine different shapes to form a design or install the tiles in a traditional stacked or subway style like ours. Most stainless steel tiles have a backing that makes them easy to install. Some even have a peel-and-stick back. You can choose from cork, hardboard and cement board backing. Cork is good for backsplash installations. Use cement board in wet areas like showers.

You’ll need to call to order a T430 backsplash. This is a “magnetic” (a magnet will stick to it) Type 430 stainless steel that is not as corrosion resistant as Type 304. The #4 brushed finish is the same as that used on many appliances. It also comes with a removable, protective PVC film on the finished side. Type 430 is great for applications where you might have spice holders or utensils with magnets on them and want to keep them at arms length. However, be aware it will be more susceptible to corrosion and rust than Type 304. For most backsplash applications the non-magnetic, #4 brushed finish is recommended
