Service: In celebration of Hell’s Kitchen’s 100th service, service was an invitation-only, black tie affair. Four past Hell’s Kitchen winners were sat at the chef’s tables; Rahman “Rock” Harper (Season 3) and Christina Machamer (Season 4) in the blue kitchen, and Danny Veltri (Season 5) and Holli Ugalde (Season 7) in the red kitchen. Also in attendance were various dignitaries and celebrities such as cast members of Lesley Bargar Suter, Iqbal Theba, Patrick Gallagher, Hugh Garvey and Sarah Tenaglia. The red team near-flawlessly completed service, their only problems being Nona serving an old risotto and Trev heavily struggling on garnish, to the point that all the women had to help him. Trev was eventually kicked out, allowing Nona to take control of the station, ensuring a smooth service for the red team. In the blue kitchen, Boris had a poor performance on appetizers, three of Vinny’s lobsters were returned for being overcooked and Rob forgot a chicken, putting them eight tables behind the red team. When the chicken was served, it was raw, causing Ramsay to kick the blue team out. The red team completed their service, being deemed clear winners.

Gordon Ramsay is the head chef. Jason Thompson is the narrator. Jean-Philippe Susilovic, a Belgian maître d’hôtel, comes from Petrus, one of Ramsay’s London restaurants and appeared in the first seven seasons and later returned for season 11. He left after season 12 and was replaced by Marino Monferrato for season 13. Susilovic was also the maître d’hôtel for the first series of the original British version. James Lukanik replaced Susilovic for seasons 8–10. Each team also has the services of one of two sous-chefs. The sous-chefs are Andi Van Willigan and Aaron Mitrano (since season 15). Previous sous-chefs were Mary Ann Salcedo, Gloria Felix, season 2 winner Heather West, Scott Leibfried, James Avery and season 10 winner Christina Wilson. In season 15, Wilson filled in for Van Willigan-Cutspec who was getting married at the time of filming but returned for one episode when her reception was one of the themed dinner services for that season.

Dave went on to work for the Araxi Restaurant until the end of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games at which point he left as he disliked the way they treated him like a line cook. Despite not appearing in Season 9, Dave was mentioned by Chef Ramsay who told Jonathon about Dave’s victory with only one hand. Dave returned in the first episode of Season 10. He cooked a steak dinner for the red team along with Rock Harper from Season 3. Dave competed against Season 11’s final five chefs alongside Season 3 winner Rock, Season 4 winner Christina, Season 8 winner Nona, and Season 9 winner Paul.

Hell's Kitchen Season

Hell’s Kitchen is a reality television show that uses a progressive elimination format to narrow down a field of 12 to 20 aspiring chefs to a single winner over the course of one season. The U.S. version of Hell’s Kitchen follows the format of the UK version though the show is recorded and not performed live, nor is there audience participation in the elimination of chefs. The show is produced at Hell’s Kitchen, a modified warehouse in Los Angeles that includes the restaurant, dual kitchen facilities and a dormitory where the chefs reside while on the show. They are also given knife sets that they get to keep, regardless of their progress.

Reward/punishment: Kevin and Ariel join Fairchild and Ramsay at the Shutters on the Beach Hotel in Santa Monica for a photo shoot for a future issue of Bon Appétit and their entrees would be featured in that night’s service. The others picked up litter off a stretch of road “adopted” by Hell’s Kitchen, dressed up in jumpsuits, and transported on a prison bus. They also cleaned up the Hell’s Kitchen complex as well and had aggravated Dave’s broken arm, requiring him to wrap it in ice. Kevin, seeing this, tried to convince Dave to leave Hell’s Kitchen, though Dave remained determined to stay till the end.

At the end of the 13th season, it was announced that it was renewed for two more seasons through season 16. On September 9, 2016, Fox renewed Hell’s Kitchen for seasons 17 and 18, ahead of season 16, which premiered on September 23, 2016.

Elimination: The women decided to nominate Tennille and Tek. Tennille, however, thought she improved in that night’s service and thought Amanda should have been nominated, so Ramsay decides on Amanda to come up. When the three nominees stepped forward, Ramsay has called Tennille back in line. Although Ramsay felt Amanda lacked the emotional strength to win Hell’s Kitchen, he ultimately picked Tek to leave Hell’s Kitchen as she was accountable for the steak fiasco, which ruined any chance of the women even completing service and for being a consistently poor performer.

Withdrawal: After a few days of waiting, Robert returned to Hell’s Kitchen. He reported that he has pericarditis and announced his departure from Hell’s Kitchen because of his condition. Robert was asked to say his goodbyes to the final four, who were emotional at his departure, before Chef Ramsay remarked that Robert had the possibility to win. “I just want to tell you, that you have been a fantastic competitor. You’ve had the potential to win this competition. Do not ever, ever forget that.” Unlike Ji in Episode 2, Robert had to give back his jacket to Chef Ramsay but did get his picture burned at the end of the episode.

Remodeling: As with previous seasons, Hell’s Kitchen was split into two restaurants, with each contestant running their side and deciding the menu and decor. While Danny and Paula prepare to leave Hell’s Kitchen, their relatives oversaw construction—Danny’s father and girlfriend for his restaurant; Paula’s mother and sister for hers. Danny’s restaurant was named “Velvet Hammer” as his own nickname and featured a seafood-menu and decor, which many of the returning chefs deemed tacky. One of Danny’s ideas, mounted fish, wasn’t well received by designer John Janavs and he feared the restaurant would be more like ‘Bob’s Bait Shop.’ Paula’s restaurant was called “Sunergy”, whose decor includes many shades of dark orange and yellow with candles on the wall. Despite her insisting on using real candles, the fire marshal said real candles that close to the wall would be a violation of safety code so “electric” candles were used instead.

Winner: Ramsay determined the winner based on the diners’ comments and his own observations. Each finalist stood in front of a door; Nona’s door opened, making her the eighth winner of Hell’s Kitchen. Unlike all of the previous runner-ups of Hell’s Kitchen, Russell took his defeat ungraciously, blaming his teammates for his loss.

Reward/punishment: Dave and Suzanne have lunch with Ramsay, cooked by Hell’s Kitchen season 4 winner Christina Machamer at Ramsay’s London West Hollywood restaurant. Suzanne asked Christina many questions, shooting down Dave’s attempts to talk to Christina. The other chefs prep the kitchen and dining room for a special “couples” dinner service.
