The Layout: If your bedroom is barely big enough to fit a bed, there are a few hacks that will help you manage the space. While we don’t love pushing a bed against the wall, try leaving as little room as possible on one side—this will leave more space on the other for a larger bedside chest. A floating shelf on the opposite side works perfectly well in tight corners.

The Layout: A large rug (9×12 or bigger) will help anchor the space. Opt for matching bedside tables and lamps that extend to the majority of the wall, and a dresser and chair across the room. This is a classic, foolproof bedroom layout that works like a charm every time.

The Extras: Large master suites often come with a walk-in closet, so forego the dresser in favor of more comfortable furniture. A reading corner, a desk, a bench, and a large plant can all help fill in awkward corners. Assess your needs, and plan your layout accordingly.
